Wide World of Comics
I read "Valerian" by Pierre Christian & Jean Claude Mczleres.
This comic is very similar to Star Wars, and they write in the introduction that the artists were shocked when they went to the first Star Wars film. Even though the artists are French, the story is interesting for people from all over the world. The main setting is the future and the main characters travel through time and solve crimes. It is funny and full of action and a little of romance. It does not matter where the reader is from, these are things that everyone likes in a story.
The story has lots of settings, but I like the futuristic ones best. The thing I like best is the mechanical structure of the spaceships. For example, on page 28 the spaceship has the design of a car. Later in the story, the space taxi looks like a regular New York taxi without wheels. The graphics are fun and filled with action. Lots of frames have no words, but the art is fun to look at. He uses lightning bolt designs, for example, to illustrate the crash of two cars.
The type of graphic novel probably has inspired lots of young artists to create fun and action-packed comics and graphic novels.
